Senescence or aging is a phenomenon that happens with time. It’s a part of life and is a seen to happen with almost every living organism. Research done on aging has indicated the following reasons for the aging process:

  • Work of free radicals on body cells
  • Body protein damage as a result of protein being chemically chained with sugar.
  • telomer curtailment. When a cell splits into two (reproducing), the telomer will not stop shortening, until one day it stops, the cell growth also desist

Reasons for Senescence Of all these reasons, it is the work of free radical in bringing about aging shows the most logical theory of aging. They cause oxidative damage to cells of the body, which in turn destroys mitochondrion – cell’s batteries or energy. Mitochondrion in the process of producing energy produces free radical also and this results in worse cell damage.

The result of aging is a decrease in body function and the body becoming more prone to diseases. With age vision, motor abilities, and bone density decreases. Hair starts to fall out and skin, loses its texture, become this and starts to wrinkle out. However, aging is not an unhealthy phenomenon to be dreaded. It is also possible to successful age. Here is look at features of healthy aging:

  • Body is well maintained such that it does not succumb to diseases and disability
  • Cognitive and physical functions are present to a high degree
  • Interaction with other and activity is life is present

Taking foods rich in vitamins and minerals and being active helps to keep people in their old age functioning well and having a well-maintained body, despite the visible signs of aging.

Role Of Nutrients In Hair Growth

Hormones and Vitamins play an important role in the Hair growth. Hair consists of a pigment called “Melanin” which also occurs in the skin of human beings. This pigment is responsible for the dark nature of the skin and hair. In Young people, hair has large number of melanin pigments which leads to Dark nature of the hair and with the increase of the age, the no. of melanin pigments decreases, leading to whitening of the hair in old People. In older people, the follicles produce thin and long hair, and also sometimes also do not produce any hair. This is the cause for the Baldness in old people.

Alcohol effects hair growth, i.e. Alcoholics have poor hair growth or they experience hair loss due to malnutrition.

The Essential mineral for the growth hair is - Zinc (Zn) which is responsible for hair growth and also prevents hair from becoming Greyish in nature. Hormones and vitamins also have an essential role in hair growth - Androgens are helpful in hair growth and also helps in Strengthening of Hair Shaft but are present in different ratio in men and women.

Role Of Nutrients In Hair Growth The Female hormones called Oestrogens decreases the growth of hair during the growth of the individual. During Pregnancy there is difference in hair growth as blood cntains more amount of Oestrogens at that time.

The effect of Androgens in male is different in many people, that is the reason some people do not get beard and hair on the chest upto a certain age of above 25 and a few get at an age of near 20.
Vitamin B - Panthenol Helps in maintaining the growth of hair and also contributes to the elastic nature and strength of the hair. Steroids taken by Asthma patients through inhalation does not effect the hair growth, but if taken orally, will slow down the hair growth.

Finally, Hormones are genetically produced and are determined and they help in growth of the hair.

Arthritis Symptoms Causes Suggestions

This illness is not common but when it occurs it requires medical attention.
Arthritis Symptoms Causes Suggestions Symptoms: Inflammation and pain the joints, usually beginning in the hands or feet but can also occur in the spinal column or in other areas. The cases of spinal column are more prevalent amongst the younger generation working in jobs which require continuous sitting on desk i.e. computer professionals, data entry, software developers, bank employees etc. It is mainly because of continuous sitting in abnormal postures. Humid climate and cold weather increase the pain. It can become difficult to move and also can cause a deformation in the affected area of the body. It generally increases with time, impending freedom or movement.

Suggestion: It is recommended to eliminate red meats, alcohol, cigarettes and toxic elements. Allergies to certain foods can produce inflammation in the joints. The most common four are: flour, sugar, whole milk, potatoes and black pepper. Avoid butter and fried foods.
Red Meats contain a fatty acid called Aracidonic acid. This acid contributes greatly to the inflammation of the tissues.
A non-vegetarian diet impedes and blocks the process whereby Aracidonic acid is converted into inflammatory prostaglandin.
The same benefits have been found by consuming fish oil form cold, fresh water fish which contains polyunsaturated fatty acids like Omega-3, also Omega-6 and Omega-9, or oleic acid found in olive oil.
It has been found that cranberries, from the same family as blackberries, strawberries and cherries, principally of a dark violet blue color, contain bioflavonoid, which acts as anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidizing agents.
It is strongly recommended to consume this type of fruit in large quantities. Same treatment is recommended for gout.
Other elements that have been effective against rheumatoid arthritis are: Selenium, a powerful anti-oxidizer that plays an important part in blocking the production of inflammatory prostaglandin.
Vitamin – E, when combined with selenium, makes it more powerful.
Arthritis Symptoms Causes Suggestions

Other helpful elements are:
Zinc: Dr, Michael Murray in his book “Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine” says that zinc given to a group of patients significantly improved the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.

Vitamin C and Magnesium. Both should be taken daily. Siberian Ginseng has great properties as adapters. That is to say, they help the body to adapt itself in moments of tension and stress, making sure that the suprarenal glands adequately secretes the body’s anti-inflammatory and stabilizing hormones, thus showing or even eliminating the problems caused by rheumatoid arthritis. It has been found that stress causes this type of arthritis.

A good way to detoxify the body is by means fasting for 1 to 3 days, consuming mostly fruit juices.

The following is also suggested:

  • Do not consume red meats.
  • Take fish oil with Omega-3.
  • Increase consumption of codfish, sardines, tuna and olive oil.
  • Plenty of oranges or grapefruit (Vitamin C).
  • Lots of raw vegetables in salads.
  • Large amounts of strawberries, cherries or cranberries.
  • Minimize intake of salt, sugar and flour.
  • Drink 1 or 2 glasses of low fat milk daily (has large quantity of calcium which is important).
  • Eat cottage cheese and whole wheat.
  • It is recommended to take vitamins A, B1, B12, C and E and the minerals: Selenium, manganese and calcium.
  • To ease pain, willow tea secretes a substance similar to aspirin. Warning! If you are allergic to aspirin do not drink this tea.
  • Do exercises like low impact aerobics, but do not over exert yourself. These exercises will help make the joints more flexible.
  • The use of copper bracelets can help some people with minor cases of arthritis.

Warning! If Arthritis worsens and you are unable to slow it down: consult your physician.

What is Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a substance that is produced from the liver and found in certain foods. It is specifically needed to make vitamin D along with some other important hormones, as well as to build cell walls, and creating a specific type of salt, bile salt, which helps in digesting fat. Our bodies can produce enough [...]

Diet for Cholesterol Control

After being informed of having high cholesterol level, of the bad kind, there really is a need for diet, exercise, and weight loss in order to bring the levels down and in control. There is a specific diet which reduces saturated fats and cholesterol through weight control and physical control.
The first step is to limit [...]

Cholesterol and Heart Disease

Cholesterol is a soft waxy substance found in all of the body cells. It is a necessity since it is used to form the cell membranes, hormones and other important functions of the body. Cholesterol and other fats do not dissolve in the body and thus have to be transported by special carriers called lipoproteins.
There [...]

LDL or Bad Cholesterol Level

Low-density lipoproteins are considered as bad cholesterol which circulates throughout the blood streams and they slowly build up within the inner walls of the arteries that connect to the heart and brain. When these low density lipoproteins are combined with other substances, they often form plaque, which can be a thick and hard deposit that [...]

HDL or Good Cholesterol Levels

HDLs are the smallest lipoprotein particles, however highest proportion of protein makes it dense for the blood. There is a group of lipoproteins which is responsible for the transportation of cholesterol in the blood. Therefore for a healthy, HDL carries about thirty percent of the blood. Their job is to collect the fat on the [...]
